**Oliver Leather Chair by Bradington Young**

**Luxury craftsmanship with timeless comfort**

The Oliver Chair features Bradington Young’s **luxurious Spring Down seat cushion**, engineered to deliver the perfect mix of supportive structure and sink-in comfort. At the core is a **4 1/2″ Marshall coil** unit encased in premium foam, creating a resilient foundation that helps the seat hold its shape and feel consistently **comfortable across the sitting surface**. The cushion is then wrapped in low-melt fiber on the top and bottom to **soften the feel** and enhance loft, while maintaining a tailored appearance.

Surrounding the cushion is a **down-proof ticking** filled with a rich blend of **down, feathers, and fibers**—adding an extra layer of plushness and a relaxed, inviting feel the moment you sit down. This construction provides a “buoyant comfort” experience: you get the gentle cradle and softness you want, along with the spring-back and durability you need for everyday use. The result is a seat that feels indulgent yet supportive, with **great resiliency** over time.

**Eight Way Hand Tied Seat Support**

**The Gold Standard of Seat Comfort**

The eight-way hand-tied seat support is considered the **gold standard in upholstery** because each coil spring is **individually secured** by hand in eight directions, creating a finely balanced, ** incredibly durable foundation**. This meticulous method allows the **springs to move independently** yet stay perfectly aligned, delivering smoother comfort, quieter performance, and long-lasting support that resists sagging **far better than machine-made systems**. For anyone seeking furniture that feels better on day one and continues to outperform for years, eight-way hand-tied construction is a **true mark of higher quality.**

**Bradington Young…Built for Life**

Bradington-Young tends to feel “high quality” because they build like an old-school upholstery shop: strong frames, real spring support, thicker leathers, and a lot of hand labor in the places you can’t see once it’s upholstered. Here are the big things that usually separate a piece like theirs from mass-market furniture.

**1) The skeleton: frame + joinery**

A leather chair is only as good as the frame underneath it.

■ **Hardwood frame construction** (more rigid, better screw-holding, less flex than softwood or composite)

■ **Reinforced joinery** (corner blocks, staples/screws/glue used together, not just “shot together”)

■ **Designs that account for leather’s weight** (leather upholstery is heavier and puts more stress on arms/rails)

**2) The sit: springs and suspension**

This is where the “it feels expensive” sensation comes from.

■ **8-way hand-tied springs on many model**s (labor-intensive, helps distribute weight and keeps the seat consistent)

■ **Heavier-gauge spring systems / better webbing** (less sagging, less “hammock seat” over time)

■ **Balanced platform support** (helps the cushion do its job instead of the seat deck collapsing first)

**3) Cushions: foam density + wrap + how they’re built**
A piece can look great in the showroom and still go flat fast if the cushions are cheap.

■ **Higher-resiliency foam cores** (keeps shape, rebounds better)

■ **Fiber/down-style wraps** (adds loft and a more tailored “filled-out” look)

■ **Cushion construction matched to the design** (firmer for clean modern lines, plusher for traditional/deep-seat comfort)

**4) Leather selection (and cutting) is a huge deal**

Leather quality isn’t just “real vs. fake”—it’s grade, thickness, and how the hide is finished.

■ **Better hide grading and matching** (more consistent color/texture across panels)

■ **Thicker, more durable leathers on many pieces** (wears slower, feels richer)

■ **Smarter panel cutting** (placing high-wear areas on stronger parts of the hide helps longevity)

**5) Tailoring & upholstery labor**

This is the part people notice visually—tight seams, clean lines, and fewer wrinkles.

■ **Pattern alignment and consistent seam tension** (looks “tailored,” not baggy)

■ **Detailed trim work** (welting, nailhead, and stitching done with better precision)

■ **Attention to inside upholstery** (the hidden layers: padding, deck fabric, arm fills)

**6) Mechanisms (when it’s a recliner) **
If you’re looking at their recliners, the mechanism quality matters as much as the leather.

■ **Sturdier reclining hardware** (less rattle, smoother action, longer life)

■ **Better alignment and tolerances** (reduces wobble and uneven wear over time)

**7) Why this shows up years later**

When Bradington-Young pieces stay nice, it’s usually because the “invisible” parts hold up: the frame stays tight, the seat support doesn’t sag, and the cushions keep their shape—so the leather doesn’t get prematurely stretched and wrinkly.
